Day 77/365

Sunday, March 15th:

Today was quite the day!
Kevin didn't go to drill because it was a light paperwork day (got to make sure everything is in order!) and he had a travel day for his training ... so he came to church with us.
We had an appointment with Sue Esposito to view a house for sale. We were attracted to the house because it had 4 bedrooms, was in a great, quiet neighborhood and was rather large. We did like the house even though it wasn't perfect. The kids loved playing on the swingset that was in the yard and digging holes. I don't know how the home owners would have felt about that, but they did leave toy shovels out ...
We liked it enough that we invited Sue to come and view our home and give us a fair market assessment.
Long story: We've known that we wanted to move up in the house department for years. It wasn't critical before we had kids, or even when they were very young, but it's becoming more and more evident now that we don't have the ideal situation. I know that nothing is perfect, but it could be better.
We started exploring the possibility of selling our house about two years ago. However, we discovered that we needed to do several things. The house wasn't in serious disrepair - we have tried to keep it up a bit - but it needed a few (let's be serious, several) updates and improvements if you wanted to get any money for it.
So, we started ... the list of things we've done is very long ... and the most recent is the new hardwood floor.
But, the visit to that house was the launching point ... and more on that later!

After viewing the house, we went home and packed for our trip to Boston. Kevin had a class outside of Boston and we were tagging along.

We didn't leave until Monday and spent the rest of the day working on the floor.

This picture is actually from Monday. On the way up to Massachusetts, we stopped at Willington Pizza. That's where the picture was taken. This is a covered bridge over a little brook. It's probably natural flowing water, but the area has been landscaped to look nice and Justin loved the waterfalls that the rocks created. He made me take a picture for his photobook.
The pizza was awesome. Pepperoni for the kids and Greek for us. Kevin had a hankering to try something completely different. Believe it or not, tomatoe sauce, feta cheese, spinach, garlic and black olives on a pizza is acutally quite good.
