Second day in the Boston area. This time, the kids and I headed over to the HUGE mall that was right next door to the hotel. We walked around for a few hours and Justin had a good time playing in the Lego store and there were some very interesting fake tree display areas. Oddly enough there weren't any real places to get something to eat. We ended up getting muffins from Dunkin' Donuts for lunch. No Starbucks! I always like to do something special, like get a Starbucks, when we're away, but I couldn't!
When Kevin got home we headed to downtown Boston. We flirted with the idea of taking the T train in, but the timing just didn't work out, so we drove and parked right near the Quincy Market area. We walked through there and ate at The Black Rose, an Irish Pub and restaurant. It was fun being in a place with such atmosphere. If we didn't have the kids, we may have tried to come back for the live Irish music which would have started at 9pm. But, we headed out and found the nearest entrance to the Subway.
We'd promised the kids that we would take a ride on the Subway for a few days. We'd gone for the first time when we were in Boston a year ago and Justin remembered. They were so excited! So, we just bought a pass for us two adults, hopped on the train, got off a few stops down, got back on and rode back.
It was a nice, quiet little trip to Boston. Not too big because of the kids and the limited time, but still fun and still quite memorable. The kids even saw Christmas lights (one of their favorite things) in the trees and a horse-drawn carriage.
